I volunteer at a no-kill cat shelter that specializes in taking in ferals and strays. In addition, I also trap feral and abandoned kitties outside to get them fixed and hopefully adopted into good homes. Therefore, I am always looking for new names! One day while volunteering I asked what kitten I should bring home to foster. The shelter manager recommended an extremely shy and scared tortie who was the last of her litter to get adopted. After about a week she had bonded so strongly to our cats and our family that when we tried to take her back to the shelter for adoption, she attacked the other kittens and would hide from the other people. Seeing this, I brought her back home as a permanent addition in our home and named her Honeybear because she is mostly black with very light orange flecks and spots that appear to be smeared on her face, drip down her chest, and flecked on her back. To me it resembles a bear who's attempted to steal honey from a bees nest, ate what it could, and then tears off as the bees chase it; getting honey all over in the process. She is the best and most well behaved kitten I have ever seen and absolutely adores children. We are blessed to have her.
